Our Team

The 1890 Land Grant Institution Wildland Fire Consortium project is designed to increase the participation of minority college students in fire management training at select 1890 Land Grant Institutions (LGIs) by expanding an existing program at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) to include three additional LGIs in AL, FL and LA forming the partnership entitled “The 1890 Land Grant Institution Wildland Fire Consortium.”  While Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) recently celebrated its 12th year of providing fire-fighting training, the other partnering institutions in this consortium - Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), Southern University (SU) and Tuskegee University (TU) also offer Forestry and Natural Resources related programs and have important and historic roles in boosting the interest and participation of minorities in Forestry.
